April 15th Board Minutes

The Zane Trace Local Board of Education held its regular Board Meeting on April 15, 2009 at 6:30 P.M. in the Administrative Conference Room.  The following Board Members responded to roll call:  Ms. Brooks, present; Mr. Detty, present; Mr. Greenwalt, present; Ms. Pflaumer, present; and Mr. Tillis, present.

Bob Cowman gave a presentation on the café financial status and on going capital improvements.

Jan Detty addressed the Board concerning the Convo T-shirt sales and presented a letter from

McDonald’s withdrawing as a sponsor of the Tip-Off Classic.

Mr. Greenwalt made a motion, seconded by Ms. Brooks that the Board of Education approve the following operational items:

1.Board Agenda as presented.

2.Board Minutes from the March 18, 2009 Board Meeting.

3.March 2009 financial report.

4.Deduct contract with Ross-Pike Educational Service District for Special Education services during the 2009-2010 school year.

5.Advertise for two 80+ conventional passenger school buses.

6.Provide for the transportation needs of the Pickaway-Ross Career and Technology Center for the 2009-2010 school year.

7.Grades 5 through 8 Summer School from June 15 – July 9 pending student enrollment of 30 students per teacher at $100 per student.

8.Third grade Summer Reading Intervention per Ohio Revised Code.

9.Zinobia Lewis as an Open Enrollment student for the 10th grade for the remainder of the 2008-2009 school year (currently enrolled).

Mr. Greenwalt made a motion seconded by Ms. Brooks that the Board of Education approve the revised 2009-2010 school calendar.  Roll Call:  Mr. Detty, no; Mr. Greenwalt, yes; Ms. Pflaumer, no; Ms. Brooks, yes; Mr. Tillis, no.  Motion Failed.

Ms. Brooks made a motion, seconded by Ms. Pflaumer that the Board of Education go into executive session at 7:07  P.M. to discuss the appointment, employment, dismissal, discipline, promotion, demotion or compensation of an employee.   Roll Call: Mr. Detty, yes; Mr. Greenwalt, yes; Ms. Pflaumer, yes; Ms. Brooks, yes; Mr. Tillis, yes.  Motion Carried.

The Board of Education returned from executive session at 8:42 P.M.  No Action was taken.

1.John Hutton as a Volunteer Assistant for Junior High Track.

2.Todd Ramsey as a Volunteer Assistant for JH/HS Golf.

3.Kim Ritchie as a substitute custodian for the remainder of the 2008-2009 school year.

4.Amend the job title and corresponding pay on Gina Davis’ continuing contract to (reflect) Head Cook effective May 17, 2004.

5.Christine Davitt for a three year contract as an aide.

6.Supplemental contract for Dennis Foreman as Interim Athletic Director March 19, 2009 through June 30, 2009.

7.Supplemental contract for Todd Holdren as Interim Athletic Director April 16, 2009 through June 30, 2009.

8.The following high school supplemental positions for the 2009-2010 school year:

Zane Trace Local School District

Using Webpress to publish out district web site will allow up to 35 different people to have accounts. The accounts will allow them to make changes and add new content to the site whenever and from where ever they wish.
